Just about a smidge over an hour from downtown Toronto, the farm market offers a harvest festival that allows you to choose from 15 types of apples (and pears) during the week or weekends. You can even savour their delicious fall desserts or enjoy their animal and activities area. Suppose apples are not enough, pick-your-own pumpkins, sunflowers and wildflowers.

Pine Farms Orchard is a farm market, an orchard, a bakeshop and a cafe all rolled into an autumn wonderland. Open all year round, the orchard’s apples can be harvested from mid-August to October. From Melba, Sunrise, McIntosh, and Honeycrisp to Ambrosia, there are endless options. 

Downey’s Strawberry and Apple Farm

Just minutes north of Brampton, lies Downey’s Strawberry and Apple Farm in Caledon, about an hour and a half away from Toronto. The family farm offers a variety of tasty, juicy apples until the end of October. Wagon rides, apple cider and candy apples are available for a fun fall experience. There is no admission fee but there is a minimum pick of about $8 per person.

Albion Orchards

Established in 1967, Albion Orchards has farm fresh produce available at the farm market or to pick your own. Their apple season starts with their famous Paula Reds with many more varieties as the season goes on. While on the orchard, visit the adorable country store that houses many fruit pies like pumpkin, apple and strawberry rhubarb. Pick your own is available on a first come, first serve basis so make sure to get there early! 

Chudleigh’s Apple Farm

Looking for a country farm that is equal parts autumn bliss, high-quality baked goods and has endless fields of apple trees? Then turn to Chudleigh’s Apple Farm. Chudleigh’s has been a popular spot to frequent during fall for years, and for good reason. With play places, farm animals, a nature trail, wagon rides, events and four different eateries, there’s a lot to discover. There are over 18 varieties of apples across 60 acres. Tickets for admission are needed. 

Quinn Farm

Address: 2495 Bd Perrot, Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot, QC

Located 40 minutes outside of downtown Montreal, Quinn Farm is one of the orchards you need to visit in the French countryside. There are around 10,000 apple trees and aside from fresh fruits and veggies to pick from, the farm also has tractor rides, play yards and an animal barn. Reservations are required for “U-pick.”

Rates are different during the week and on weekends, so be sure to check out the prices beforehand.

After apple picking, head over to the bakery or cafe for a sweet treat, or check out the cannery or retail store. They even offer tours where you can learn about how the food grows on the farm.

Ravenskill Orchards

Address: 1240 Coats Dr., Gabriola Island, BC

Ravenskill Orchards has over 1,000 trees across two acres with 25 different varieties of apples to choose from, including Blondie, Creston, Liberty, Golden Delicious and Northern Spy. Aside from U-pick, they offer a variety of apple butter, sweet apple caramels, hard apple ciders and fresh apple juice.

Bouvier’s Berry Basket is one of the top three U-pick orchards in the Prairies. Don’t be fooled by the name, as Bouvier’s offers more than just berries. For the fall season, pick some delicious apples across 5.5 acres of land. Contact them in advance to set up a picking time.
