Have you ever thought of hosting your next party at the Toronto Stock Exchange? Some might call you a “Bay Street baller,” but this space offers much more (and for much less) than just an exclusive party venue. Design Exchange Toronto is Canada’s newest top-tier event space byway of recent renovations made to the Toronto Stock Exchange. Aside from being housed in a 1980s historical building, Design Exchange Toronto offers an accessible culinary experience like no other.
Built within the walls of the ‘Trading Floor’ are a series of sophisticated projector lights that are capable of displaying any video graphic you like. Looking to dine in Versailles or party in outer space? This one-of-a-kind immersive experience can take you there. But what good is a space without incredible food, right? Design Exchange Toronto is catered by local favourite catering company Eatertainment. Led by Sebastien Centner, Eatertainment offers a culinary deep dive into Canadian fine dining. We got to try the incredible food offered at Design Exchange Toronto, here are our thoughts.
Eatertainment’s menu offerings
Appetizers: We started off with a warm mushroom veloute and caramelized onion tart. The veloute was delicious with a well-balanced flavour. The onion tart was encased in a flakey and buttery puff pastry—served with whipped goat cheese and balsamic syrup. Both of these menu options would be great light starters for any wedding or sit-down meal.
Main Course: For our mains, we shared duck confit, pickerel in pistachio crust and truffle pasta purses. We couldn’t decide which of them was our favourite, so we settled on a tie between the duck and pasta. Each dish had their own unique flavour and charm which is perfect if your guests are looking for variety.
Dessert: The meal finished off strong with a refreshing coconut mousse and passionfruit coulis. This is the ideal dish if your guests are looking for something light before hitting the dance floor.
Overall, the menu offerings at Design Exchange Toronto are well balanced, diverse and encompass a variety of local flavours. We’re big fans of anything truffle and sweet, so this menu had us enamoured from the jump. After all, who wouldn’t want to have dinner under the sea or on top of the CN Tower?
