How often are Krispy Kreme doughnuts made?
Krispy Kreme doughnuts are made fresh every day. But, it’s one thing to eat them fresh and another when they are eaten straight off the line. At any Krispy Kreme factory, like the newest one that just opened in Etobicoke, Canada (2458 Lake Shore Blvd. W,) you can get freshly made, hot Original Glazed doughnuts off the line. But only when the Hot Light neon sign that reads “Hot Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Now” is switched on. So watch for that because the wait is worth it.
How are Krispy Kreme’s Orginal Glazed doughnuts made?
To make Krispy Kreme Canada’s famous doughnuts takes a six-step process.
The dough is first mixed. It is then immediately dropped into a hopper for 8 to 10 minutes, this gives the tough enough time for its initial rise. The hopper is set at a particular temperature that allows for the yeast to activate. The dough then goes into an air-pressurized machine that pushes out the perfectly round-shaped doughnuts.
The rings are then proofed and given enough time to rise to their optimal size in a temperature control belt before they are placed in the fryer to turn into the golden-coloured doughnuts we all know and love.
Around 30 minutes later, the doughnuts are placed in the fryer, flipped over, and fried again. Once that process is complete, the doughnuts go through the glazing process, and voila! The Original Glazed doughnuts at Krispy Kreme are born.

What makes Krispy Kreme doughnuts so different and special?
We spoke with Levi Hetrick, Chief Growth Officer at Krispy Kreme Canada, and he said that the most unique thing about Krispy Kreme is the hot Original Glazed doughnut. “It’s what makes us special… we make everything fresh every single day.”
“There’s not a freezer here, we freeze nothing… and we hand process everything,” Hetrick added.
Additionally, while Orignal Glazed is one of his favourite doughnuts, another one at the top of his list is a secret flavour that’s not always readily available: the Hot Chocolate Cake doughnut. “If you can get it hot, it tastes like a brownie right outside of the oven. It’s kind of special,” Hetrick shared.
