From TimBiebs to Apple Fritter Ice Cream, you can always count on Tim Hortons to be creating something new. Which is why we were especially excited to try their new Chipotle Steak, the latest addition to their lunch and dinner offerings. Read on for everything to know, plus our honest review.
What is it?
The new Tim Hortons Chipotle Steak is available both as a Loaded Wrap and Loaded Bowl. Both feature shredded seasoned steak, a hearty grain base of rice and quinoa, lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, crispy onions and chipotle sauce.
How can I order it?
Chipotle Steak Loaded Wraps and Loaded Bowls are now available at Tim Hortons restaurants across Canada and can be ordered for delivery through the Tim Hortons app.
How much is it?
A Chipotle Steak Loaded Bowls retails for $10 plus tax, and a Chipotle Steak Loaded Wrap retails for $8.79 (prices may vary by region).
Doesn’t Tim Hortons already have bowls and wraps?
They sure do! “We had an enthusiastic response from Tims guests after we launched our Cilantro Lime and Habanero Chicken Loaded Wraps and Loaded Bowls last year which had us working right away on our next delicious Loaded option,” says Chef Tallis Voakes, Director of Culinary Innovation at Tim Hortons.
How does it taste?
Truthfully, it’s pretty tasty. The Chipotle Steak is super tender and the shredded texture really soaks up all of the chipotle sauce it’s cooked in. The Chipotle Steak complements the grain base nicely (even more so than the previously released Cilantro Lime and Habanero Chicken, in our humble opinion), and the crunchy veggies make the dish hit all the right textural notes. The chipotle sauce provides a creamy hit of acidity, rounding out the whole dish. We didn’t test the dish for takeout, but we have a feeling that the crunchy veggies in the bowl might get a tad soggy if they’re travelling for more than a short distance, so we’d recommend opting for the wrap if you’re on the go.
Let’s be clear: If you’re looking for a proper burrito or burrito bowl with all the fixings (guac, salsa and the like), you’re better off heading to your favourite Mexican takeout spot. But if you’re looking for a quick and tasty working lunch or even an affordable dinner option, at $8.79 and $10, both the wrap and the bowl are solid options that will leave you feeling full and satisfied.
