If you’re a fan of chocolate oranges, this warm bevy takes the beloved holiday chocolate to the next level. There is nothing more decadent around the holiday season than sipping on homemade hot chocolate made with real chocolate. This version infuses the flavour of orange to bring in a little cozy winter citrus to the mix!

cups whole milk

cup heavy cream

Tbsp granulated sugar
2-3
strips orange zest

pinch ground nutmeg

tsp vanilla extract
4
oz quality dark chocolate, roughly chopped
Whipped cream, for topping
Shaved chocolate, to garnish
Orange slice or zest, to garnish

Step 1
In a saucepan over medium heat whisk together the milk, cream, sugar and orange zest. Bring to a gentle simmer but do not boil.

Step 2
Add the nutmeg, vanilla and chocolate. Remove from heat and whisk until the chocolate is fully incorporated.

Step 3
Evenly divide mixture between two mugs. Top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings and a slice of orange.
