The onion boil has taken over social media and it’s for good reason! These perfectly cooked onions are bursting with flavour in each bite. They’re tender and beyond easy to make! We’re talking for five minutes, and let the air fryer do the rest! Serve them with rice or potatoes- or just eat them on their own!
The key in this onion boil recipe is to mimic the classic flavours of a seafood boil – think garlic, paprika, old bay seasoning- and don’t forget the butter! Feel free to try different spices, but for the ultimate simple side, the classic can’t be beat.

Cut off the ends of the onion and remove the skin.
Using a sharp knife or a melon baller, create a small well in the middle of the onion, about halfway down.
Place onion on a small sheet of foil. Add half of your spices into the onion center. You can sprinkle some across the onion as well.
Pour in your melted butter to the center. Add in the rest of the spice mixture.
Drizzle olive oil across, ensuring everything is coated.
Close up foil into a small ball. Cook in air fryer for 40 minutes at 375°F
Remove and plate. Pour any remaining liquid over onion. Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy!
